Lisa Kaida is an Associate Professor of Sociology at McMaster University. Dr. Kaida specialises in economic and social integration of immigrants, work and occupations, urban sociology, and the sociology of sports. Her current projects include: the economic integration of resettled refugees (with Feng Hou and Max Stick), trends in gender occupational segregation (with Monica Boyd), Canada’s foreign aid policy and immigrant remittances (with Liam Swiss), perceptions of neighbourhood change (with Howard Ramos, Diana Singh, and Rachel McLay), and the rise of big city National Hockey League players and its implications for diversity (with Peter Kitchen). Her recent work has appeared in Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, Population, Space and Place, City & Community, and the International Review for the Sociology of Sports.

Prior to joining McMaster in 2015, Dr. Kaida was an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Memorial University of Newfoundland and an Academic Director of the Memorial Research Data Centre.

Avant de rejoindre McMaster en 2015, Lisa Kaida était professeur agrégé de sociologie à l’Université Memorial de Terre-Neuve et directrice académique du Memorial Research Data Centre.
